Helping Hand Home is the oldest continuously operating residential childcare agency in Travis County and a priceless resource kept strong and viable through community support. Helping Hand Home for Children provides a safe haven for children healing from physical, emotional and sexual abuse, neglect or abandonment.
Midtown volunteers serve the children at Helping Hand Home one hour a week by helping with homework, playing during recreational time, and reading at bedtimes. http://helpinghandhome.org
Guided by the principles of human compassion and dignity, Refugee Services of Texas welcomes refugees, immigrants, and other displaced peoples and supports them in integrating and thriving in their new communities.
Midtown volunteers serve the clients of Refugee Services of Texas whenever spontaneous needs arrive such as providing meals, providing rides, moving families into apartments, and more. https://www.rstx.org
Education Connection helps fight illiteracy and dropout rates but connecting volunteers with students so they can read books together 30 minutes a week. Last year 996 volunteers served in 9 school districts in Central Texas. Midtown partners with Lee Elementary, where we worship, to read with some of their students each week.
The Hyde Park Neighborhood Association exists to foster a closer, more genuine community of neighbors and to preserve and improve the historic and unique character, amenities, and ecology of the neighborhood.
